Virtual Photoshoot
Last Saturday, the Mandula’s did a virtual family shoot with photographer Sarah Sloboda. I had no idea what to expect or what the outcome would be, but after receiving our photos back I was so impressed! Sarah did a wonderful job of capturing everyone’s personalities without even being in the same room (or state!) as us. All of the photos were taken via a zoom call through her screen. I propped my phone up on a tripod and she did the rest. It’s always a challenge getting Jax to sit still long enough to get photos taken but Sarah did an amazing job at making it fun for him.
We started out in the family room for some “formal” photos and then headed outside. She suggested putting the kids in their element by having them jump on the trampoline and I loved it! The photos of the kids just having fun and being themselves turned out to be my favorite. I love looking at their smiling happy faces - it reminds me that even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, our lives are still going on, and the kids are still just as happy as they would be otherwise.
This virtual shoot was wonderful for us - it gave us a reason to dress up (in our Easter outfits, since we wore sweats that day!) and come together as a family and have some fun in front of a camera. I love the idea that we get to look back on these photos one day, and say “Wow, that was such a crazy time, but remember how happy we all were just being together?” Thank you so much Sarah for allowing us to have these memories on film, and for helping us to remember how lucky we are to have our health and each other during these trying times.
