My Quarantine Health Routine

How’s everyone holding up without the gym, workout classes, and dining out? I gotta be honest, when I first found out that our gym was going to be closed, I had a mild panic attack. That’s the one hour of the day that I get completely to myself, without any distractions, to completely focus on me. What the hell was I going to do without that? Obviously I had one choice: adapt. I’ve been doing home workouts, live stream workouts, and just finding new ways to move my body throughout the day. We’ve been taking family runs (scooter rides for the kids) a few days a week, and I’ve always been using YouTube to find workouts for both myself and the kids. Here are a few that I’ve been doing by myself, with them, and some geared just towards kids.

  1. Cosmic Yoga (kids)

  2. Pamela Reif - these workouts are great if you have zero equipment at your house. And a couple are intense!

  3. Workout Hotel - these are also great if you don’t have any equipment. They have workouts specifically for families so you can do them with your kids, as well as some that you can do on your own.

  4. PopSugar Fitness

  5. Pinterest - if you look out home workouts they provide templates of different body workouts you can do if you have some weights at home. And if you don’t, use some canned goods!

Aside from mini daily workouts, I’ve been conscious of my eating choices. It’s easy to snack all day when you’re home, but if you make sure to have healthy snacks at home, you’ll be less likely to grab crap (especially right now, when NO FOOD SHOULD GO TO WASTE!). I’ve also been making sure to stay on top of my water intake - mainly because I’m becoming a functioning alcoholic at this point and I need to prevent dehydration (kidding! sort of). Drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your body so keep on it. Make your own flavored water and add whatever you have in your house - fruit, cucumbers, lemons, limes, it all tastes good. Make sure to get some greens, no matter how. The easiest way for me to do that is by tossing them in a smoothie. I have this Green Smoothie almost everyday and honestly it’s so delicious. Last but not least, enjoy time with your family, or use it to take up a new hobby, or finish a project you haven’t had the time to.

Remember, this isn’t going to be forever, so try to make the most of it, and try not to take the little things, like your health, for granted.

Here’s the Green Smoothie recipe I use:
